Yesterday, April 9, the 2016 Annual Conference of the Mormon Transhumanist Association was held in in Provo, Utah, at the Provo City Library. The Conference reaches beyond Mormonism and is the de-facto annual conference of the religious/spiritual transhumanist community. The Conference was live-streamed and the recording of the stream is online on YouTube. You can watch more than nine hours of awesome talks at the intersection of transhumanism and religion.

Eric Steinhart to keynote the 2016 Conference of the Mormon Transhumanist Association

The date for the 2016 Conference of the Mormon Transhumanist Association (MTA) has been announced. The conference will take place on Saturday, 9 April 2016, at the Salt Lake City Public Library. One of the two keynote speakers will be Eric Steinhart, professor in the Department of Philosophy at William Paterson University, and author of “Your Digital Afterlives: Computational Theories of Life after Death.” The other keynote speaker will be announced later.

At the Mormon Transhumanist Association (MTA) Online Discussion Group, 25 January 2014, we discussed plans for presentations at the forthcoming 2014 Conference of the Mormon Transhumanist Association (Salt Like City, April 4), and the movie Her.

We also discussed the creation of an umbrella “Transfigurist Network” for religious transhumanists, to be established as a cooperative framework for collaboration between the MTA, the Christian Transhumanist Association (CTA), and other religious transhumanist associations that may emerge in the future.

A Christian Transhumanist Association: moving forward

The discussion at the Mormon Transhumanist Association Online Discussion Group, 26 October 2013, was centered on the establishment of a Christian Transhumanist Association (CTA). Watch the video below.

The CTA has not yet been formally established, but it already has a website and a Facebook Page, launched immediately after the discussion to complement the existing Facebook Group. If you are a Christian and a Transhumanist, or a Christian interested in Transhumanism, or a Transhumanist open to a religious interpretation of our ideas, we warmly encourage you to join.
